But I can’t do the initial setup unless I’m connected to regular wifi, and my apartment wifi requires a username.

I know what you’re thinking: “Just type your iPad’s IP address into the network settings.” But that won’t work because the Xbox One requires that you do the initial setup first before you can access the network settings menu.

So here I am tethering my Xbone to my iPad hotspot for the next 217 days until it finishes updating.
